Deltamarin Group

The headquarters of Deltamarin group are located in Raisio, a town bordering Turku in the South-Western Finland. Turku with neighbouring cities host maybe the largest maritime cluster in Finland. We have two other offices in Finland, one in Helsinki and one in Rauma, both cities known for their maritime industry as well.

Deltamarin group has subsidiaries around the globe. As the industry has become more and more global, we have sought to support our customers around the globe with the best quality to an affordable price. Deltamarin Sp. z o.o. is located in Poland and Brodoplan d.o.o. in Croatia. We also have a representative office in Shanghai, China and a partly owned engineering office in Shandong, China as well as a Malaysian subsidiary GPS Deltamarin Sdn Bhd. Owners are also served through our joint venture with V-ships: V.Delta, located in Monaco.

Deltamarin is mainly owned by its employees. We cooperate with many actors in the marine field but are independent of all the major maritime actors.

History

Our background resides in the European shipbuilding and offshore construction. Our references date back to 1984 and the track record includes development of several novel prototype vessels, extensive use of 3D technology and individual projects up to more than 430,000 man-hours.

Deltamarin was founded in 1990 by a group of naval architects and engineers. Some of the founders of the company are still working in the company. The first year of our existence the company was known by the name Elomarin, but the name was changed to Deltamarin in 1991.

We have always aimed at growth and we have invested in internationalisation through creating a partner network as well as through expanding our customer base. The company received the Finnish president’s reward for internationalisation in 2000.

To be a forerunner in the business has always been our goal. As a result we have been the first in the business to implement many things. In 1986 our employees created the first 3D model for engine room and piping and the first engineering package for the entire ship was completed the same year. The first 3D coordination model for an entire ship was made in 1994, the first total safety assessment for an entire ship in 1999. In 2000 we were commissioned a first energy and environmental audit. The first 3D integration model for an FPSO was made 2005 and work on our first contracting services package was started in 2006.

Offering

We offer all the traditional services provided by an engineering office. Assistance is offered all through the lifetime of a marine vessel or an offshore construction starting from Concept and Basic design and/or FEED all through Detail design and workshop drawings until conversion design.

Our Contracting services offer much wider assistance than merely design and engineering. The idea is to assist the customers all through the building process by taking responsibility or supporting the building shipyard so that the project can be completed on time and so that the end result is what originally was planned. Contracting services can include Project Management, Supervision and Procurement services as well as other services depending on the needed scope.

As a large engineering house we also offer services in all engineering disciplines. We offer Electrical, Instrumentation and Automation, HVAC, Piping, Machinery, Hull and Hull outfitting design for the marine and offshore markets.

Recently we have also developed our own standard designs starting with bulk carriers B.delta37 and B.delta 64, derivatives of the bulk carriers as well as tankers are also forthcoming. In certain vessel types standard vessels are not possible to apply but in order to decrease the costs we have created parametric designs that can be configured based on the needs of the customers. So far we have entered the market with parametric FPSOs together with Ulstein (F.Delta.X) and ferries together with Wärtsilä.

Key figures

There are more than 400 personnel in the Group; 250 of them are employed in Finland. The current Managing Director is Mika Laurilehto. The turnover has been around 30 million for the last few years. All in all we have handled more than 5000 complex marine and offshore projects.
